Tree Removal. Can I Do It Myself Or Should I Hire A Professional?

8/3/2015 - 2:38:11 PM
Sometimes it's hard to know what is do-able on your own. Tree removal can be a D.I.Y. job with the right equipment and some advice.

However in many cases you will need a tree care professional. Many local tree removal companies in Lancaster, Coatesville and West Chester shop at Gap Power and we can give you names & numbers of these trusted local arborists who remove trees.

So whether you aim to do it yourself with owned and rented equipment or you need a good referral see any of us at Gap Power. Talk to us early on in the project planning. If it makes sense we'll guide you to the right rentals. If not, to the right Pro.

There are exceptions, but if you are in a confined space, near a house, road or overhead lines you likely will need a Pro. Often such tree removals require piece by piece removal, tree climbing equipment, use of lifts and at times even a crane.

See Ray at Gap Arborist for any help w/ ropes, knots, saddles & gear. He is the go-to guy for anything related to arborist gear - no matter where you live in the USA.

Our rentals include man lifts, saws, pole saws, chippers and stump grinders as well as dump trailers and stand on skid loaders w/ grapples.

We can be reached at (717) 442-8970 or at www.gappower.com.

Yup, no one can ever deny the fact that we should just let experts take care of our trees if they are located near overhead lines. My cousin's backyard is filled with tall oak trees but he has no time to look after them. Maybe he should call a tree expert for further assistance. https://www.jonnysspraysolutions.com/tree-care

I want to make sure that I get the old tree on my property removed. It makes sense that I would want to get a professional to do it for me! That way I wouldn't have to worry about it falling over and damaging anything. http://www.kiwitreelopping.com.au/services

I'm glad you mentioned that it is important to have a professional trim a tree if it located near overhead power lines. One of the trees in my front yard is pretty overgrown, and it is pretty close to a powerline. I'll have to ask a professional if this is a good time of the year to trim this particular tree. http://www.countytreeservice.com/services/tree-removal

Thanks for the great information about trimming trees. That is a really good point that if my trees are really close to our home or another structure, it's best to hire a professional to avoid damages. I'll talk to my husband and see about calling around for an arborist. http://www.thetreemonkey.com.au/

I really like that you said tree removal can be done with the right equipment and a little advice. However, as you said, it can be a difficult task. Do you have any tips about finding the right professional to remove your tree? I really do think it could go a long way to know what you are looking for when you need a professional's help. http://www.dowlingtreeservices.com.au/about-us

Great read. I like how you mentioned that one can technically remove a tree without the help of a professional but it still depends per case. Since we have a very old stump on our backyard that's been here for years now, I think removing this stump is something that a professional should handle. I'll share this with my mom so we can hire a professional arborist sometime next month.

I'm delighted you pointed out how crucial it is to hire a pro to trim a tree if it is close to overhead electricity lines. My front yard has a tree that is somewhat overgrown and rather close to a power line. If this is a decent time of year to remove this specific tree, I will need to see a specialist. http://www.sprouseslandscapingsc.com/landscaping-services

Thanks for pointing out that if the tree is near a house or in a confined space then you should use a professional. My husband is convinced that he should take down this big tree that's grown a little too close to our house by himself. I'll have to tell him what you said and find a tree removal service that can safely get rid of it. http://www.johnsonstreeservices.com/services

It's great to know more about tree removal. We're hoping to get rid of one in our yard because it's a danger, so this is helpful. Since it's near our house, we think we'd like a professional to help us, like you said. http://www.desertgardensinc.com/

Thanks for mentioning that you can perform tree removals yourself, however, it's more beneficial to call a professional. My wife and I are thinking of looking for a removal specialist because there are two trees in our backyard that are decaying and hanging over our fence into our neighbor's property. It seems like a good idea to consider hiring a reputable professional that has the necessary equipment to both remove and dispose of unwanted natural objects in our yard.

I am currently looking for tree services available here in Eugene to do a tree removal in my house. Since my father told me that I can ask him to do the job, I am worried that it might be too dangerous. Good thing I’ve read from your blog that tree removals often require the use of equipment, such as lifts and sometimes a crane. So I think it would be best to let a professional do the work. https://www.hodgsontreeservice.com/tree-services

I suppose you have to wonder if there is a liability issue when advice is given and something goes wrong. Tree work in general is for trained and certified professionals. It's not enough for someone to say, "I've been doing this for 20 years." Next time someone buys equipment, ask them if they have any formal education. You might be surprised. Without training, your just lucky that you haven't been hurt or killed. Nevertheless, good luck with your sales. I'm happy you supply some of the things we professionals need.

When it comes to tree removal I always suggest calling in the professionals instead of risking causing a bigger problem and trying to do it yourself!

It's true that one can do it themselves with the proper tools and knowledge, it's also important to remember that sometimes it ends up being cheaper in the long run to call in a professional from the start to ensure it's done right and safely the first time.

It's great that you advised people to not cut or trim their own trees if they are in a confined space or near open power lines. A professional will be able to trim the tree without causing any damage to your property. An inexperienced homeowner, however, is at a lot of risks because they are trained to know what to do.
